Tyler Schau

Partner and Chief Financial Officer

Tyler Schau is a Partner and Chief Financial Officer at AgMarket.Net®, the Farm Division of John Stewart and Associates. Born and raised in State Center, Iowa, Tyler brings a well-rounded perspective to commodity risk management – one built in the classroom, the rodeo arena and the field.

Tyler holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and a Master of Science in Agricultural Education from Iowa State University. Before entering the brokerage industry, he served as an agricultural economics instructor and Farm and Ranch Management degree advisor at Bismarck State College in Bismarck, ND. While at BSC, Tyler focused his teaching efforts on risk management for producers and worked closely with banking organizations to conduct risk management trainings for their clients. It’s a background which shapes how he works with clients today. Tyler has a natural ability to break down complex market concepts into straightforward, easy-to-understand terms. It’s a skill honed through years of teaching and working alongside bankers and producers alike.

Tyler has been involved in rodeo since an early age, competing professionally in steer wrestling, tie-down roping and team roping. Though he has stepped back from professional competition, he remains deeply committed to the sport – mentoring young steer wrestlers and having helped develop two College National Finals Rodeo champion steer wrestlers, three National Finals Rodeo competitors and the 2020 World Champion steer wrestler.

Tyler brought his brokerage experience to AgMarket.Net® in 2021 as a hedging strategist and today serves as a Partner and Chief Financial Officer. He specializes in grains and livestock with a heavy emphasis on cattle, spring wheat and canola, reflecting his deep roots in Western North Dakota. His laid-back, producer-friendly approach makes him a natural fit for farmers, ranchers, producers, farm groups and financial institutions he speaks for throughout the country. Tyler is also a licensed crop and livestock insurance agent and a managing partner of AgMarket Insurance Services, LLC.

A trusted voice in agricultural media, Tyler’s analysis and commentary appear regularly on local and national broadcasts including: AgDay, U.S. Farm Report, RFD-TV, RFD Radio Network, Market Day Report, This Week in AgriBusiness, AgriTalk, Agriculture of America, Market Talk, Farm Futures, Iowa AgriBusiness Radio Network and RealAgriculture.

Tyler works out of the Almont, ND office. He and his wife Jackie have one daughter, Sidney.
