Betsy Jibben, media director of AgMarket Consulting, is along for the Pro Farmer Crop Tour this year.
On day 1, she followed scouts as they toured a route through Lincoln, Turner, Hutchinson and Yankton Counties in South Dakota.
Throughout those 7 stops, the average soybean pod count in the sampled area totaled 1330 pods in a 3×3 foot square. For corn, that average BPA was 101 in the sampled area along that route.
She interviews Dan Graber, a farmer from Turner County, SD; Jim Jibben, a farmer from Lincoln County, South Dakota; Chris Hawthorn, the Head of Field Crops Section with USDA; Brent Judisch, a Western Leg Scout and Iowa farmer and Frank Nedved, a Yankton, SD farmer.
